Dear OISE Community,

I hope that the end of the winter term has been a success for our faculty, staff and students with a period of growth and learning for us all. I share the enthusiasm for the warmer weather and also take this opportunity to provide some announcements and reminders as we head into spring.  

Extension of Appointment of Associate Dean Research, International and Innovation

I am very pleased to announce that Professor Michele Peterson-Badali’s second term as Associate Dean, Research, International & Innovation, which began on July 1, 2020 and was set to end on June 30, 2023, will be extended for an additional two years to June 30, 2025. Associate Dean since 2015, Michele has extensive, successful experience in the portfolio that will continue to provide leadership to OISE’s services and initiatives in research and innovation. 

Employment Equity Survey

The University of Toronto continues to encourage appointed and non-appointed employees to complete the updated Employment Equity Survey as part of UofT’s commitment to enhancing and fostering a diverse and representative workforce.  This was originally communicated in a  issued jointly by the Vice-President & Provost and Acting Vice-President, People Strategy, Equity & Culture. The survey will serve as a baseline to help measure how the University is meeting and advancing more inclusive working and learning environments. Ultimately, these data are used to improve our employees’ experience of the University—and at OISE—across all stages of their careers. The survey is voluntary and confidential, and open to all appointed and non-appointed employees.  Canadian Society for the Study of Education â€“ Save the Date

OISE will be hosting a reception during the Canadian Society for the Study of Education Conference on Tuesday May 30th. More details will be forthcoming shortly but for those attending the conference, please make note in your calendar to join us on that evening. 

OISE Convocation Ceremonies

OISE spring Convocation ceremonies will take place on June 12th and June 16th. I encourage, especially our faculty and staff to mark these dates in the calendar and to join our OISE graduates as they celebrate their achievements. From May 2-18, 2023, members of the Governing Council, Faculty and Staff will be able to  to participate in the Academic Procession for the Spring 2023 convocation ceremonies. Information regarding regalia rental, assembly time, and meeting place will also be available on the site.
