Academic Writing Groups (AWG)

We offer the Academic Writing Groups during Fall and Winter terms to help you connect with your peers and to make the academic writing process less stressful and more productive. Each group will meet ten times (virtually and in person). These writing groups are intended to provide academic writing support for OISE students for whom English is not their first language.

By attending the Academic Writing Groups, you will have an opportunity to work on your academic writing in a collaborative group setting led by a Group Facilitator. In each two-hour meeting, we will discuss a particular aspect of academic writing, and then you will work with the other students in your group on feedback aimed at improving the content, structure, and grammar of your writing. Please note that the Group Facilitator does not provide individual writing consultations. However, you are still able to  to discuss your work with advisors at the OSSC.

Invitations and registrations are typically sent directly to your utoronto email address prior to the start of the fall and winter semesters.
